Make a meaningful impact in education by supporting students with hearing impairments as a contracted Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This rewarding position offers the opportunity to work in one of several esteemed schools near scenic Hilton Head Island, collaborating closely with academic professionals and nurturing an inclusive learning environment.

The assignment runs from early August through late May, Monday through Friday, with a 37.5-hour workweek. Based on needs, placement will occur at one of several vibrant campuses serving middle or high school students. As a valued educational partner, you’ll bridge communication and foster understanding both in instructional settings and during school-related activities.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Sign Language Interpreter credentials, with a minimum EIPA score of 3.5.
  • Fluency in American Sign Language and strong interpreting skills.
  • Familiarity with educational settings and ability to adapt in dynamic environments.
  • Team-oriented attitude, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
  • Passion for serving diverse student populations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide real-time interpretation for students, faculty, and staff during classroom instruction, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities.
  • Accurately convey spoken information into sign language and vice versa, ensuring clarity for all parties.
  • Support student engagement and understanding by facilitating communication in both academic and social situations.
  • Maintain open communication with educational staff about student needs and progress.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and district policies for confidentiality.
