Step into an impactful role as a Sign Language Interpreter working in a dynamic educational environment for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract offers a full-time schedule from August 10, 2026, through May 27, 2027. With 37.5 hours per week, you’ll provide direct, onsite interpreting services for students, empowering them to fully engage in their learning experience.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current and active licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter in the State of North Carolina
  • Experience working within school settings, preferably supporting K-12 students
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with a strong grasp of interpreting ethics and best practices
  • Ability to effectively facilitate communication between students, educators, and peers
  • Comfortable committing to an onsite-only role
  • Dedicated to fostering inclusion and accessibility in educational environments

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver real-time sign language interpreting services in classroom and school-related activities for assigned student caseload
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education teams, and school staff to support student learning and participation
  • Accurately interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and materials to ensure full access for deaf or hard-of-hearing students
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to district and professional standards for educational interpreters
  • Participate in IEP meetings and student planning sessions as needed
