Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter, specializing in American Sign Language (ASL)
- EIPA score of 4.0 required (candidates with slightly lower scores may be considered if they have strong relevant experience)
- Experience working with high-school students preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Professional commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards in an educational environment
Position Highlights:
- Provide direct interpretation services to facilitate communication between a high-school student who is Deaf or hard of hearing and teachers, peers, and other school staff
- Interpret classroom lessons, discussions, activities, and school events from spoken English to ASL and vice versa
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to ensure the student’s academic and social success
- Maintain accurate, confidential records of interpreting assignments as needed
- Adhere to the daily schedule: 8:15am – 3:05pm, during regular school hours
