Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with prior experience as a sign language interpreter in educational settings
- Understanding of behavioral classroom dynamics and the ability to adapt to varying communication needs
- Comfortable working with students who utilize assistive devices such as cochlear implants, hearing aids, and ALD systems
- Collaborative mindset to coordinate with a fellow language facilitator and educational staff
- Current licensure and ability to provide proof upon request
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction for a high school student during all instructional times—excluding lunch, arrival, and dismissal periods
- Serve as a communication bridge between the student, teachers, and peers to foster academic and social inclusion
- Adjust interpreting methods as needed based on the student’s evolving accommodation requirements
- Maintain student confidentiality and adhere to school and district protocols
- Step in as a substitute for the primary language facilitator when necessary, ensuring continuity of support
