Step into a meaningful role supporting a dynamic 9th-grade student as a part-time American Sign Language Interpreter for a behavioral classroom environment. This contract position is focused on facilitating seamless communication during instructional periods, working closely with another language facilitator who covers Monday through Thursday. Your expertise will provide essential support every Friday, with the opportunity to substitute on additional days if needed.

Key Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with prior experience as a sign language interpreter in educational settings
• Understanding of behavioral classroom dynamics and the ability to adapt to varying communication needs
• Comfortable working with students who utilize assistive devices such as cochlear implants, hearing aids, and ALD systems
• Collaborative mindset to coordinate with a fellow language facilitator and educational staff
• Current licensure and ability to provide proof upon request

Primary Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction for a high school student during all instructional times—excluding lunch, arrival, and dismissal periods
• Serve as a communication bridge between the student, teachers, and peers to foster academic and social inclusion
• Adjust interpreting methods as needed based on the student’s evolving accommodation requirements
• Maintain student confidentiality and adhere to school and district protocols
• Step in as a substitute for the primary language facilitator when necessary, ensuring continuity of support
