The position is onsite, focused on facilitating accessible learning and engagement for a student who actively participates in school life—including theater and challenging coursework like Algebra I.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
  • Previous experience working in an educational setting, preferably with high school students
  • Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers and other educational staff
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret classroom instruction and school activities for a 9th-grade student
  • Work one-on-one on Fridays for 6.5 hours to ensure full participation in academic and extracurricular activities
  • Support the student’s communication with both peers and educators, reinforcing their social and academic growth
  • Facilitate understanding of assignments, tests, and lectures, with particular attention to areas such as Algebra I
  • Collaborate closely with teachers who utilize hearing assistance technologies (e.g., Cochlear Implant, ALD)
  • Encourage the student’s autonomy and active involvement in the school community
