Key Qualifications:

  • Hold at least one of the four national certifications for Sign Language Interpreters (such as RID, NIC, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience and skills as a Sign Language Interpreter, ideally in educational settings
  • Ability to effectively support a 9th-grade student with cochlear implants, hearing aids, and an ALD device
  • Professional, flexible, and comfortable working in behavioral class environments

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for a 9th-grade student during instructional times, averaging 6.5 hours daily
  • Adapt interpreting strategies to meet the needs of a student transitioning from a Residential Day School Program
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and student support teams to foster optimal learning
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical practices within the school environment
