Key Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI), particularly in school or educational settings
  • Ability to provide real-time interpretation between spoken English and ASL for a single student
  • Familiarity with IEPs and strategies to support students with hearing impairments in an academic environment
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability to meet varied communication needs throughout the school day
  • Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical interpreting standards
  • National or state certification (such as EIPA, RID, or equivalent) preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret all classroom instruction, lectures, discussions, and school activities for assigned student
  • Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers
  • Support the student’s participation in both academic and extracurricular settings
  • Prepare for classes by reviewing materials or collaborating with teachers as needed
  • Maintain detailed records of interpreting services in accordance with school policies
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute insights to ensure appropriate support

This contract position is set for 37.5 hours each week throughout the 2026-27 school year, providing consistency for both you and the student you'll be working with.
