Licensed Certified Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Indianapolis, Indiana

In this role, you will facilitate communication and provide crucial American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation to help a student who is Deaf or hard of hearing fully participate in classroom instruction, activities, and coursework. Your expertise will ensure equitable access to education and promote a positive, engaging school experience.

Key Qualifications:

• Registration under the SLI and Transliteration Registration Act required
• Proficient in American Sign Language with a deep understanding of Deaf culture
• Licensed to work as a Sign Language Interpreter in the school setting
• Experience supporting high school students or working in educational environments preferred
• Strong grasp of the unique academic and social needs of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Ability to interpret instructions and collaborate closely with educators, staff, and families

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide real-time ASL interpretation during lessons, discussions, and school activities
• Facilitate classroom communication by ensuring clear relay of information between students, teachers, and peers
• Support delivery of core curriculum and assist with general coursework
• Foster student participation and engagement in a variety of educational settings
• Maintain accurate and confidential records as needed
• Collaborate with educational teams to adapt and deliver services for optimal student success
