1:1 10th Grade Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Ipswich, MA

Key Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with a strong grasp of educational interpreting practices
• Prior experience as a sign language interpreter, preferably working 1:1 with pediatric or school-aged students
• Knowledge of IEP processes and how to adapt communication for various learning environments
• Ability to foster a supportive, inclusive atmosphere for students with hearing differences
• Professional certification or credentialing in sign language interpreting (such as RID or state certification) is highly desirable

Responsibilities:

• Provide continuous, clear, and accurate sign language interpretation between the 10th grade student and all school staff, peers, and educators throughout the school day
• Adapt interpreting techniques to meet the individual needs and learning style of the assigned student
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and the student’s educational team to maximize access and participation
• Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all situations
