Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous interpreting experience in educational or pediatric settings (preferred)
• Comfortable providing 1:1 support to high school students
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and student’s support network
• Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet classroom and individual needs

Primary Responsibilities:

• Serve as a dedicated interpreter for a 10th grade student, ensuring access to all academic, social, and extracurricular activities
• Facilitate clear communication between the student, peers, and educational staff
• Support the student’s participation, engagement, and understanding during lessons and school activities
• Adapt interpreting strategies to suit different subjects and classroom environments
• Work closely with educational team members to help implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
