Explore a rewarding opportunity supporting high school students as a Sign Language Interpreter. This contract position is located near Jenks, OK, with both full-time (35–37.5 hours, Monday through Friday) and part-time schedules available to suit your lifestyle. The roles involve providing vital 1:1 interpreting services—one opening dedicated to a high school student who requires support throughout the week, and another focused on a student with severe and profound needs with a schedule of Monday, Thursday, and Friday. For the part-time position, flexibility is essential, as you will occasionally accompany the student to a different building located less than a mile from the main campus.
Qualifications & Experience:
- EIPA score of 4.0 or higher, or possession of RID/NAD Certification
- Quality Assurance Screening Test (QAST) Level III or higher
- At least 2 years of experience in sign language interpreting preferred
- Strong ability to adapt communication style based on individual student needs
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism within a school environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver real-time interpreting services for students in classroom and school settings
- Facilitate effective communication between students, educators, and peers
- Adjust to schedule changes and support students during transitions between buildings
- Support classroom participation, encourage student engagement, and foster inclusion
- Maintain accurate records as required by school guidelines
