Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Previous experience interpreting in educational or school settings preferred
  • RID or EIPA certification strongly desired
  • Ability to interpret in both individual and group classroom settings
  • Flexible, positive communicator who works well with students, staff, and families
  • Professionalism and reliability in fulfilling contractual responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver real-time sign language interpretation in classrooms, assemblies, and school events
  • Facilitate clear two-way communication between students, teachers, and peers
  • Adapt interpretation style to match student needs and classroom environments
  • Maintain confidentiality adhering to all school and FERPA policies
  • Assist with preparation of classroom materials as needed for optimal access
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to student support planning
