We are seeking an experienced Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to provide vital interpreting services for students in grades EC through 3rd. This contract position is located at an easily accessible campus where buildings are connected, enabling effortless transitions throughout the school day.
As a key support professional, you’ll collaborate with mainstream classrooms, work within self-contained DHH settings, and partner alongside related service providers to help ensure all students access a meaningful educational experience. Every day allows you to foster inclusion and facilitate learning through clear, accurate interpreting.
Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with educational interpreting protocols
- Experience supporting children in a school setting, preferably with early childhood and elementary students
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) or ability to secure relevant credentials
- Flexibility and adaptability working across classrooms and with varied group sizes
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with educators, service providers, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret all classroom instruction and communication in both mainstream and DHH self-contained settings
- Provide interpreting for small groups, related services sessions, and individual support as needed
- Ensure smooth communication access between students with hearing differences, their peers, and staff
- Maintain professional standards of confidentiality and ethical conduct at all times
