We're seeking two experienced professionals to provide comprehensive sign language support in both elementary and high school environments. This contract opportunity allows you to work full-time during the school week while gaining valuable experience in a supportive and collaborative atmosphere.
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Proficiency as a professional Sign Language Interpreter for school settings
- A minimum score of 3.5 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA)
- Eligibility for the GaPSC Educational Interpreter Certificate
- Ability to engage with students at varied learning levels, from elementary to high school
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and ongoing learning
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Interpreting classroom instruction and educational content for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Facilitating communication between students, staff, teachers, and families
- Adapting signing methods and strategies to best support individual student needs
- Participating in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and other student support activities
- Collaborating closely with classroom teachers and support staff to foster an inclusive learning environment
- Upholding ethical standards and maintaining student confidentiality at all times
