This full-time contract role runs from ASAP through May 21, 2027, with a potential to extend into the ESY period. Serve as a crucial bridge in communication for a 4th-grade student beginning their journey as a new American Sign Language (ASL) learner.

Enjoy a consistent weekday schedule following school hours—7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., Monday through Friday. Your expertise will facilitate accessible learning and inclusion for students with hearing differences, helping shape an environment where everyone’s voice is heard.

Qualifications Needed:

• Valid license from the Kansas Commission on Deaf/Hard of Hearing
• Minimum 4.0 EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score
• Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Experience in K-12 educational settings preferred
• Ability to foster positive communication and relationships with students, teachers, and families
• Commitment to supporting students’ educational and social development

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpretation for a 4th-grade student, adapting communication styles as needed
• Translate spoken language into ASL and vice versa during classroom instruction, activities, and school events
• Collaborate with general and special education staff to ensure clear, effective communication
• Support the student’s language acquisition and confidence as an emerging ASL user
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all school policies and legal requirements
