Per Diem Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Kansas City, KS

Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting middle school students as an ASL Paraprofessional and Sign Language Interpreter. Located near the Kansas City, KS area, this per diem position offers the chance to make a positive impact, collaborating within a dedicated educational environment. Working from 8:00am to 3:00pm, Monday through Friday, you'll provide essential communication support and help create an inclusive classroom experience.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required
• Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter and/or Paraprofessional, ideally in a school or middle school setting
• Ability to facilitate clear, sensitive communication between students, staff, and faculty
• Understanding of middle school developmental needs
• Strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities between students and staff using ASL
• Support individual students in comprehending course materials, assignments, and instructions
• Assist teachers with classroom management and modified instruction as needed for students using ASL
• Foster social and academic inclusion for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
• Adapt communication techniques to suit varying learning styles and student abilities
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to address student goals and needs
