Make a meaningful impact supporting a 9th-grade student in a behavioral classroom as a Sign Language Interpreter and Language Facilitator. This part-time contract opportunity focuses on facilitating communication and instructional participation for a student who utilizes cochlear implants, hearing aids, and an ALD device. The student primarily identifies as hearing but requires interpretation services due to unintelligible speech. After attending a Residential Day School Program, he is transitioning back to a traditional school setting—your expertise will be crucial during this adjustment period.

Working every Friday onsite, you'll collaborate with another experienced language facilitator covering Monday through Thursday, and occasionally be asked to sub if needed. Your focused support will help the student access his curriculum effectively, fostering inclusion and engagement.

Desired Experience & Qualifications

  • Hold valid credentials/certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience supporting students in behavioral or special educational settings is highly valued
  • Commitment to discretion and professional boundaries
  • Adaptability working in a dynamic high school environment
  • Ability to collaborate as part of an educational team
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret classroom instruction using ASL for a 9th-grade student
