Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Kenner, Louisiana

Step into a vital role supporting high school students as a Sign Language Interpreter for a full-time contract assignment aligned with the school year calendar. This opportunity is based near Kenner, LA and will serve students in a dynamic educational setting. Your skills will help foster an inclusive learning environment and ensure students have access to all instructional content and social interactions.

Key Qualifications:

• Proficiency as a qualified Sign Language Interpreter with experience in school settings
• Current EIPA score of 4.0 (both performance and written), listed on the Louisiana Interpreter Registry (LCDC Interpreter Registry - Dept. of Health)
• Credentials of RID or NIC accepted, provided written exam requirement is also met
• Commitment to all required fingerprinting and drug screenings per district policy
• Experience or comfort interpreting for high school-aged learners

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver interpretation services for high school students, enabling communication between staff, students, and peers
• Accurately interpret classroom instruction, extracurricular activities, and school events as assigned
• Collaborate with staff to adapt communication strategies and support educational goals
• Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and adhere to ethical guidelines for interpreters in an educational environment
• Fulfill all necessary documentation and district compliance requirements
• Number of assigned schools and caseload will be determined based on district needs

This is a full-time, contract-based position beginning as soon as possible and continuing through the end of the school year in May. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week, following the academic calendar.
