A dynamic opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide essential communication support in educational settings. This role is based in Kissimmee, FL, and involves travel to various schools, offering diverse experiences and the chance to make a meaningful impact on students' learning and accessibility.
Responsibilities include facilitating clear communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their teachers, peers, and school staff. The interpreter will work closely with educational teams to ensure all students have equal access to classroom activities, meetings, and school events. Accurate and professional interpretation of spoken content to sign language and vice versa is essential, along with maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Key qualifications and experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills
- Experience working in educational environments or with children strongly preferred
- Ability to travel regularly within the region to serve multiple school locations
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or equivalent credentials is highly desirable
- Knowledge of educational terminology and classroom dynamics is a plus
