Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, especially within educational settings
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Ability to facilitate effective communication between students and staff
- Possession of national or state certification preferred (such as EIPA, RID, or equivalent)
- Comfortable providing interpretation services in a classroom environment
- Professional, patient, and adaptable in fast-paced school settings
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver interpretation services for a high school student requiring support throughout the school day
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other support personnel
- Foster an accessible, inclusive learning environment
- Interpret class discussions, lectures, and peer interactions to promote student understanding and engagement
- Support participation in extracurricular and school-related activities when needed
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
