We are seeking an experienced professional to provide full-time interpreting services for a high school student during the 2026-2027 academic year. Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with proven interpreting skills in educational settings
  • Experience supporting deaf or hard-of-hearing high school students preferred
  • National or state certification for sign language interpreting (e.g., EIPA, RID, NIC, or equivalent)
  • Solid understanding of educational terminology and classroom communication needs
  • Ability to follow ethical guidelines and maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational abilities and adaptability in dynamic school environments

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide real-time sign language interpretation for one high school student during classroom instruction, activities, and school events
  • Collaborate closely with general education and special education staff to facilitate clear communication
  • Assist the student in accessing curriculum, participation, and engagement in all school settings
  • Support the implementation of the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) as it pertains to interpreting services
  • Accurately interpret spoken and signed communication while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Contribute to meetings and coordinate with educational teams as needed
