Step into a vital educational role supporting students as an on-site Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming academic year. This 37.5-hour-per-week contract position, based in a school setting near Ladson, SC, will run from August 5th, 2026, through June 4th, 2027. Working collaboratively within the school environment, you’ll help foster accessible communication and ensure all students can thrive in their learning journey.
Qualifications:
- Valid South Carolina Sign Language Interpreter (SC SLI) certification required
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting in educational environments
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in schools preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Ability to work exclusively on-site during school hours
Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, conversations, and school events for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Facilitate clear and effective communication between students, teachers, and school staff
- Support students’ participation and inclusion in all daily activities and lessons
- Adhere to all confidentiality and professional standards
- Collaborate with educational teams to ensure appropriate accommodations are in place
- Attend meetings or training sessions as requested
