Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Lakeville, Minnesota

Make a difference by supporting student success as a Sign Language Interpreter in a high school environment near Lakeville, MN. This contract opportunity focuses on daily in-person support for a 10th-grade student throughout the entire school year. You'll play a vital role in this student's educational journey, providing clear communication access across a block schedule with courses such as Geometry, US History, Focused Skills (structured study hall), and Fashion and Merchandise.

Skills & Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting in an educational setting
• Previous experience working with high school students is preferred
• Certification or relevant credentials for interpreting in schools is highly desirable
• Ability to follow a 4-period block schedule consistently each school day
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with students, teachers, and staff
• Strong commitment to confidentiality and professionalism

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities for the assigned student, ensuring effective communication
• Facilitate understanding between the student and teachers, staff, and peers across varying subjects
• Support the student’s participation in all scheduled classes and related activities
• Adapt interpreting techniques as needed for both academic and non-academic settings
• Maintain ethical standards and respect the student’s privacy at all times
