Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) for educational interpretation
- Certification or significant experience as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Experience as a Braillist, with the ability to transcribe educational materials into braille
- Familiarity with technology and software for braille production is a plus
- Strong communication skills and commitment to fostering student independence
- Ability to work collaboratively with instructional teams
- Flexibility, reliability, and enthusiasm for empowering students with visual and/or hearing impairments
Core Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities into sign language to facilitate communication
- Provide braille transcription of instructional materials, handouts, and assessments for students with visual impairments
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to adapt and modify instructional content and materials
- Support student engagement by ensuring accessible communication in various educational settings
- Maintain accurate records related to service delivery and student progress
- Participate in meetings and training as related to student accommodations and accessibility
This contract opportunity offers an average pay rate between $35 and $45 per hour, reflecting your experience and expertise in both sign language interpretation and braille transcription.
