Qualifications and Experience:
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience in a school-based setting preferred
- Ability to interpret in a variety of academic subjects and social situations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- High level of professionalism and cultural competency
- Relevant interpreting credentials, certification, or licensure (such as EIPA, RID, or state-specific certifications)
What You'll Do:
- Provide sign language interpretation for students during classroom instruction, school activities, and meetings
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication between students, teachers, and support staff
- Collaborate with educators to understand lesson content and adapt interpretations as needed
- Support students’ social participation and engagement throughout the school day
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of interpreting in educational settings
- Participate in any required meetings or professional development as needed
