Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Lenexa, Kansas

Work a consistent schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., interpreting for a 4th-grade student who is a new American Sign Language (ASL) learner. Your expertise will bridge communication between the student, teachers, and peers, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Key Qualifications:

• Current licensure with the Kansas Commission on Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
• EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 4.0 or higher.
• Proficient in educational interpreting for elementary-age students.
• Strong knowledge of ASL and Deaf culture.
• Ability to build rapport with students, educators, and families.
• Flexibility, patience, and dedication to student progress in language acquisition.

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide in-person ASL interpretation for a 4th-grade student in all classroom and school-related activities.
• Collaborate with faculty to ensure instructional access and participation.
• Support the student’s language development and social interaction.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards.
