This full-time position supports a 1:1 caseload, fostering accessible communication and inclusion for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Beginning August 10th, 2026, and continuing through June 17th, 2027, you’ll collaborate with dedicated staff and play a pivotal role in facilitating learning and engagement.
Qualifications:
- Active Maryland Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) License
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting in school settings
- Experience working 1:1 with students in educational environments preferred
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture and educational accommodations
- Excellent interpersonal skills and professional communication etiquette
- Reliability, adaptability, and a genuine commitment to student success
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time ASL interpretation during classroom instruction, small group work, and school-related activities
- Assist students in understanding educational content and accessing all aspects of the curriculum
- Partner with teachers, support staff, and other team members to address individual student needs
- Maintain confidentiality and flexibility in a fast-paced school environment
- Contribute feedback for educational planning and individualized support strategies
- Stay current with best practices and attend required meetings or trainings
