Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Demonstrated experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in an educational setting
- Ability to interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities with accuracy and professionalism
- Understanding of Deaf culture and the unique needs of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students
- Familiarity with IEPs and educational goals for students receiving sign language services
- National or state certification (such as RID, EIPA, or recognized equivalent) is highly valued
- Strong interpersonal skills, reliability, and the capacity to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time sign language interpretation in classrooms, assemblies, meetings, and school-related events
- Ensure clear communication between students, staff, and peers in both one-on-one and group settings
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to adapt materials and strategies for optimal student understanding
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards in all interpreting assignments
