Step into an essential educational support role as a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter, serving a local school district near Lexington Park, MD. This full-time, contract opportunity spans from August 10, 2026, through June 17, 2027, and focuses on providing 1:1 interpreting services to a student within a dynamic and supportive educational environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Maryland Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) License or eligibility strongly preferred
- EIPA score or equivalent qualifications are valued
- Proven experience providing sign language interpretation in school settings
- Strong command of ASL and comfortable facilitating communication between students, staff, and peers
- Professionalism, flexibility, and the ability to collaborate with educators and educational staff
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct 1:1 sign language interpreting support for a student in various classroom settings
- Translate classroom instructions, discussions, and activities in real-time to ensure full participation
- Adapt interpreting style to meet the communication needs of the student
- Foster inclusive learning by bridging the gap between spoken and signed communication
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards in all interactions
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to optimize student engagement and success
