This is a full-time assignment, perfect for an individual who is passionate about helping students access classroom instruction and activities.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably with prior school-based experience
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher required (candidates with lower scores who are willing to retest are encouraged to apply)
- Experience in an educational setting, especially with middle school students, is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of student confidentiality and professional standards
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and educators
- Ability to adapt to various learning and communication styles
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct sign language interpreting services for a middle school student during all classroom activities and school functions
- Assist in facilitating communication between the student, peers, and school staff
- Support educational goals by ensuring the student has equitable access to instruction and participation
- Maintain accurate records of services provided and comply with school policies
- Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to meet the student’s individual needs
