Qualifications and Experience:

  • Demonstrated proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter, with prior experience in school environments highly valued.
  • Must possess an EIPA score of at least 3.5 (including the written portion).
  • Hold applicable state or national credentials for sign language interpreting.
  • Ability to interpret classroom instruction, meetings, and extracurricular activities.
  • Professionalism, adaptability, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards in educational interpreting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and effective interpretation for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in both classroom and school activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student participation and engagement.
  • Adapt interpreting style to meet individual student needs and classroom situations.
  • Maintain detailed and confidential records as required.
  • Take part in staff meetings and professional development to remain current with interpreting best practices and school policies.
