Sign Language Interpreter in Lincoln, NE

Key qualifications and background:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language and experience in classroom or school-based settings
• EIPA score of 4.0 or higher preferred; however, candidates with a provisional license and lower EIPA will be considered
• Strong ability to interpret in high school academic and social situations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adapting to students’ diverse needs
• Familiarity with IEPs and working collaboratively with educators and school staff
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding students’ rights

Primary responsibilities:

• Deliver real-time sign language interpretation for high school students during class, activities, and school functions
• Support clear understanding of curriculum content and assist with classroom interactions
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and special education staff to adapt resources and approaches
• Advocate for student needs and communication access, fostering an inclusive environment
• Maintain accurate records, follow ethical interpreting standards, and engage in professional development

This position is scheduled for onsite work only, Monday through Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., allowing you to have your afternoons free. The contract runs from mid-August 2026 through late May 2027, aligning with the school year.
