Support students’ educational experience through your skills as a Sign Language Interpreter. In this contract role, you will work closely with educators, administrators, and students to provide essential communication access for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students in academic settings. Your expertise will help ensure an inclusive environment, empowering all students to participate fully in classroom activities.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience interpreting in K-12 or educational settings
  • Familiarity with educational terminology and classroom environments
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Current relevant certification (e.g., EIPA, RID, or state-specific credential) preferred
  • Ability to adapt interpreting style to varied student needs and age groups

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret verbal and signed communication between staff, faculty, and students in academic and extracurricular settings
  • Support students during classroom instruction, assemblies, meetings, and other school activities
  • Maintain confidentiality in line with school policies and professional ethics
  • Collaborate with teachers to understand lesson plans, vocabulary, and objectives
  • Provide feedback to the educational team regarding best practices for accessible communication
  • Flexibly adjust to schedule or location changes during the contract period
