A full-time position is available for a Sign Language Interpreter to provide essential communication support for elementary students in a classroom setting. This contract role is for the 2025-2026 school year, based in Long Beach, Mississippi, and offers the opportunity to work directly with general education students in one-on-one environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver clear and effective sign language interpretation services for students in 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades
  • Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers to enhance learning experiences
  • Attend school activities and collaborate with educational staff to support student needs
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to educational protocols and standards
  • Participate in ongoing professional development as required

Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure is required: RID certification, Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.0 or higher, or a valid Mississippi Quality Assurance (MS QA) license
  • Experience working with children in educational settings preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in-person consistently and professionally
  • Commitment to supporting students with diverse communication needs

Position Details:

  • Location: Long Beach, Mississippi, within Harrison County
  • School Level: Elementary (serving 2nd, 4th, and 5th graders)
  • Schedule: 35 hours per week, school calendar year (CSY)
  • Number of Openings: 3 (1 position each for 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade students)
  • Employment Type: Contract
