Step into an impactful contract opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter for the 2026/27 school year. Support K-5 students in an elementary school setting, helping to ensure communication is accessible and inclusive. This full-time role offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, working 35 hours per week from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. You’ll work in a dynamic, student-centered environment, closely collaborating with teachers and staff to facilitate learning for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably within a school setting
  • Ability to interpret for a range of communication needs and classroom scenarios
  • Familiarity with IEPs and special education accommodations is a plus
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Professional certification (such as EIPA, RID, or state equivalent) preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and effective interpretation within classrooms and school activities
  • Support both individual students and small groups as needed
  • Collaborate with educators, support staff, and families to foster an inclusive educational experience
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and sensitive matters
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to student planning when appropriate
  • Adapt interpreting style to meet student needs and learning contexts
