Step into a meaningful role supporting student access to education as a Sign Language Interpreter on a contract assignment for the upcoming school year. This full-time opportunity begins August 10th, 2026, and extends through June 17th, 2027. You'll work 1:1 with a student, providing essential communication support, helping foster both academic growth and classroom inclusion.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Maryland Sign Language Interpreter License (or current eligibility)
- EIPA score (preferred)
- Experience in educational settings or prior work as a school-based Sign Language Interpreter is a plus
- Strong command of ASL and understanding of Deaf culture
- Ability to adapt to various classroom environments and collaborate with educators and support staff
- Professionalism, reliability, and a genuine passion for making a difference in students’ lives
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate and fluent interpretation between American Sign Language and spoken English for a designated student throughout the school day
- Facilitate participation in classroom discussions, extracurricular activities, small group and 1:1 sessions
- Work in harmony with teachers, special education teams, and school administrators to ensure the student’s full access to educational content
- Contribute to a supportive and inclusive learning atmosphere
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards within school settings
