Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Lutherville Timonium, MD

Seeking a skilled professional fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) to support a Kindergarten student who communicates through sign language. This opportunity is for a Sign Language Interpreter / Language Facilitator in a school setting on a contract basis, offering 35 hours per week. You'll play a key role in promoting the student’s participation, engagement, and positive school experience.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required
• Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter or Language Facilitator, especially in an educational setting
• Ability to effectively interpret communication between students and staff
• Adaptability and patience in working with young children
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Certification in sign language interpreting preferred but not required
• Committed to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct ASL interpreting services to a Kindergarten student throughout the school day
• Facilitate communication between the student, peers, and staff members in classroom and school activities
• Support learning by interpreting classroom instruction, directions, and discussions
• Help foster inclusion and social interaction for the student with classmates
• Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure seamless communication
• Document work and provide feedback to the educational team when necessary
• Contribute to a positive and supportive learning environment
