Key Qualifications:
- ASL fluency with strong interpreting and communication skills
- Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter or teaching American Sign Language, particularly in school-based settings
- Familiarity with Deaf/Hard of Hearing education and IEP processes
- Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, students, and families
- National certification (such as EIPA, RID, or NIC) or state licensure preferred
- Professionalism, flexibility, and a willingness to adapt to school environments
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, school meetings, and events for students and staff
- Support exceptional learners by making instructional content accessible
- Work one-on-one or with small groups to bolster comprehension and engagement
- Liaise with educators to adapt lessons and materials for visual accessibility
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere that celebrates student diversity
- Adhere to ethical guidelines, policies, and maintain confidentiality at all times
