Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Lynn, Massachusetts

Step into a rewarding role supporting students with hearing needs as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school environment near Lynn, MA. This full-time contract position begins ASAP, offering opportunities to provide valuable assistance during a 5-week ESY (Extended School Year) session and throughout the upcoming academic year.

Your expertise will help a student benefit fully from educational opportunities, working alongside a Teacher of the Deaf (TOD) and utilizing advanced tools such as FM systems and cochlear implants.

Key Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Experience interpreting in educational settings, particularly K-12
• Understanding of cochlear implant and FM system technology
• Ability to collaborate with special education professionals, including TODs
• Strong commitment to facilitating communication for students with hearing differences

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct ASL interpreting services during classroom instruction and school activities
• Support accessibility and inclusion for a student using cochlears and an FM system
• Work closely with teaching staff, related service providers, and family members
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of interpreting
• Adapt communication strategies based on student needs and educational contexts
