This full-time contract position begins ASAP, offering opportunities to provide valuable assistance during a 5-week ESY (Extended School Year) session and throughout the upcoming academic year.
Your expertise will help a student benefit fully from educational opportunities, working alongside a Teacher of the Deaf (TOD) and utilizing advanced tools such as FM systems and cochlear implants.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience interpreting in educational settings, particularly K-12
- Understanding of cochlear implant and FM system technology
- Ability to collaborate with special education professionals, including TODs
- Strong commitment to facilitating communication for students with hearing differences
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct ASL interpreting services during classroom instruction and school activities
- Support accessibility and inclusion for a student using cochlears and an FM system
- Work closely with teaching staff, related service providers, and family members
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of interpreting
- Adapt communication strategies based on student needs and educational contexts
