Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Madison, AL

Bring your expertise in American Sign Language to a vibrant educational setting in northern Alabama! We are seeking a skilled professional to fulfill a full-time contract position as an ASL Interpreter and American Sign Language Teacher. This role serves students in and around Athens, Dekalb, and Madison, allowing you to make a meaningful impact within supportive school communities.

Key Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language with strong interpretation skills
• Experience interpreting in school settings highly valued
• State or national certification as a sign language interpreter preferred
• Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing
• Ability to collaborate with educators and other specialists in a team environment
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, accessible learning environment

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide on-site ASL interpretation for students during classroom instruction, activities, and school events
• Support teachers and staff in implementing strategies to enhance understanding and participation for deaf/hard-of-hearing students
• Assist with IEP meetings, parent communications, and other relevant educational activities
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Prepare and adapt materials as needed to facilitate learning and access
• Serve as a resource for the school community regarding Deaf culture and ASL
