Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Magalia, California

This role focuses on fostering communication and inclusion across elementary and intermediate schools, working closely with students, teachers, and school staff. Your sign language expertise will make a meaningful impact on students’ learning experiences and overall engagement.

What We’re Looking For:

• Proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter, with strong ASL skills
• Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf, or an EIPA score of 4.0 or above, ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessment preferred
• Candidates with EIPA under 4.0 are encouraged to apply (role titled as ASL Para)
• Experience facilitating communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in classroom settings
• Ability to assist with academic subjects such as reading, writing, and math
• Capability to monitor students during classroom, outdoor, or community activities
• Preference for applicants comfortable in elementary and intermediate school environments
• Dedicated to supporting inclusion and student growth

Key Responsibilities:

• Offer sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpretation for students, educators, and staff
• Enable communication to promote participation in learning, social, and vocational activities
• Assist students with understanding academic material as well as skills for daily living
• Support students throughout their day, both in and out of the classroom
• Collaborate with educators to meet individual student needs and promote successful learning
• Participate in relevant school activities as needed

This full-time, onsite contract spans approximately 30 hours per week during the school year. You'll work with a collaborative team and contribute to a welcoming, supportive environment for both students and staff.
