Embark on a fulfilling contract opportunity supporting students in educational settings as a Sign Language Interpreter. We are seeking 5 dedicated professionals for the upcoming 26/27 school year, committed to fostering communication access and inclusion for students in general education classrooms. With a schedule running from 7:40 am to 2:00 pm, you'll enjoy a balanced workday totaling 30 hours each week and contribute both in 1:1 settings and as a floating support across campus.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid 4.0 EIPA certification required for all Sign Language Interpreters (SLIs)
- Open to ASL paraprofessionals actively working towards interpreter certification
- Strong proficiency in American Sign Language and interpreting within educational environments
- Previous experience supporting students in classroom settings preferred
- Collaborative approach and adaptability to support both individual students and wider classroom needs
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct 1:1 interpreting services for students in general education classrooms
- Support classroom engagement and participation through accurate, clear sign language interpretation
- Flexibly float among classrooms as needed to ensure wide-ranging student support
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to foster an inclusive learning atmosphere
- Adhere to ethical guidelines and school policies to ensure effective communication
