Key Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Sign Language Interpreter certification with an EIPA score of 3.0 or higher
- Experience working in a school setting preferred, particularly with K-12 students
- Ability to interpret effectively in both educational and social contexts
- Strong ethical standards and respect for student confidentiality
- Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills
- Comfort adjusting interpreting styles to meet individual student needs
- Dedicated to advocating for student access and participation
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one sign language interpretation for a designated student in the K-12 setting
- Foster student engagement and facilitate effective communication during lessons, activities, and school functions
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to address students’ educational needs
- Accurately interpret spoken language to sign and vice versa, adapting as required
- Support student participation in both academic and extracurricular activities
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
