You’ll work onsite, collaborating closely with staff and students to create an inclusive and accessible learning environment.
As part of a dedicated team, you’ll play a vital role facilitating communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Your expertise will make a real difference in each student’s ability to participate and succeed throughout the academic year, from August 24, 2026, through June 11, 2027.
Qualifications:
- Current Oregon Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) Certification/Licensure is required
- Proven experience interpreting in educational or school settings, preferably K-12
- Thorough understanding of ASL and current interpreting techniques
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in diverse environments
- Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom setting
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa for students, educators, and staff
- Provide communication access in classrooms, assemblies, and school activities
- Support student participation in academic, social, and extracurricular activities
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, case managers, and support staff to meet student needs
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
