Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or equivalent)
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledgeable about Deaf culture
- Previous experience interpreting in educational environments is highly valued
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to adapt to a variety of student needs and learning styles
- Capable of maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating professionalism at all times
- Excellent time-management and organizational abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into ASL and voice/sign for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing during classroom instruction, assemblies, and school events
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and other service providers to ensure students have appropriate language access for all educational activities
- Assist in preparing instructional materials as needed to support student learning
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for students, encouraging academic and social engagement
- Maintain accurate records of services provided and participate in student planning meetings when requested
