This contract opportunity offers full-time hours (35 hours per week, Monday through Friday) through the end of the academic year. You'll play a vital role in facilitating communication, ensuring accessibility, and empowering students on their learning journey.

Qualifications:

  • Fluent in American Sign Language with substantial experience as a Sign Language Interpreter.
  • EIPA score of 4.0 (written required) and current listing on the Louisiana Interpreter Registry (LCDC Interpreter Registry - Dept. of Health).
  • RID or NIC credentials accepted, provided written qualification is also met.
  • Successful completion of district-required fingerprinting and drug screening.
  • Adaptable to serve a high school caseload (specific students/schools assigned TBD).

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities for high school-aged students.
  • Collaborate with educators and other staff to provide seamless communication support and ensure student inclusion.
  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and adhere to ethical standards within the educational environment.
  • Adapt to a varied caseload and contribute to student progress by fostering a supportive, accessible schooling experience.
