Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter within educational settings.
- Understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and the unique communication needs of students with Autism.
- Possess relevant interpreter certification or licensure as required.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, specialists, and support staff.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; compassionate and patient demeanor.
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services to facilitate communication between the early childhood student with Autism and peers, teachers, and other staff members.
- Support the student during classroom instruction, group activities, and individual sessions as needed.
- Adapt signing style and techniques to suit the student’s communication preferences and learning needs.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times in accordance with school policies.
- Collaborate with the educational team to help develop and implement communication strategies.
- Offer interpretive support during meetings, events, and other relevant occasions throughout the school year.
