In this rewarding contract opportunity, you’ll provide essential one-on-one support as a Sign Language Interpreter for a third-grade student. This role is based onsite and will span the full academic year from late August through early June. You’ll help facilitate communication and inclusion within the school setting, making a lasting difference in your student’s educational journey.
Qualifications:
- Hold a current Sign Language Interpreter certification and proof of licensure
- Score of at least 4.0 on the EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) is required
- Previous experience working in a K-12 educational environment, particularly with elementary-aged students, is highly preferred
- Strong ASL receptive and expressive skills, with the ability to translate spoken language into clear, age-appropriate signing
- Excellent interpersonal skills, patience, and reliability for working closely in a 1:1 setting
Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated, professional sign language interpretation for a third-grade student throughout the school day, ensuring full access to classroom instruction and peer interaction
- Foster an inclusive and welcoming classroom atmosphere through accurate, unbiased interpretation
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other school professionals to adapt communication as needed
- Assist in preparing or modifying classroom materials to support the student’s participation
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards at all times
This onsite assignment follows the regular school schedule (8:45 am – 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, excluding a 30-minute lunch break). You’ll have the opportunity to build trusted relationships and deliver impactful support across the school year.
