Qualifications & Skills:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English
• Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings preferred
• Current certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter (state requirements apply)
• Understanding of IEPs and educational terminology is an asset
• Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities
• Professionalism, confidentiality, and dedication to supporting student needs

Primary Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities between students, teachers, and peers
• Adapt signing style to match age and developmental level of each student
• Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure all communication needs are met
• Clarify or relay information in a way that preserves meaning, intent, and confidentiality
• Assist students during school-related events, assemblies, and extracurricular activities as needed
• Maintain detailed records of sessions and fulfill reporting requirements
