Qualifications & Experience:
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or relevant credentials
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience interpreting within educational settings preferred
- Ability to accurately facilitate communication for Deaf or Hard of Hearing students
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative spirit
- Knowledge of IEP processes and working with educational teams preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction and school activities between staff, students, and peers
- Provide communication support across a variety of settings, such as assemblies, small group work, and one-on-one sessions
- Adapt interpreting techniques to accommodate students’ individual needs and learning styles
- Serve as a reliable resource for Deaf or Hard of Hearing students, ensuring equal access to education
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards
- Collaborate respectfully with teachers, specialists, and school staff to best support student outcomes
