Soliant is seeking a qualified and experienced Braillist/Braille Transcriber to provide professional Braille transcription services supporting teachers and students throughout the 2026–2027 school year.

This opportunity is ideal for a certified Braille transcription professional who is comfortable managing a significant volume of materials, meeting quick turnaround times, and supporting a large student population across multiple school districts.

Assignment Details

Position: Braillist/Braille Transcriber
Schedule: Full-Time
Hours: 30–35 hours per week
Duration: Full 2026-2027 School Year or until direct hire is found
Caseload: Materials supporting teachers and students across approximately 26 districts
Setting: Onsite; districts provide an in-person office for onsite candidates
Pay Rate: $30-35/hr, depending on experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional Braille transcription services for educational materials used by teachers and students.

  • Transcribe a variety of classroom and instructional materials accurately and efficiently.

  • Support a large population of students and educators across approximately 26 school districts.

  • Manage a significant caseload while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Meet established turnaround times and due dates for requested materials.

  • Collaborate with the existing team of 2–3 Braille transcribers to coordinate and delegate materials appropriately.

  • Prioritize assignments based on student and teacher needs and established deadlines.

  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and appropriate boundaries when handling student and educational materials.

  • Communicate effectively with staff regarding assignments, timelines, and completed materials.

Required Qualifications

  • Current certification in Braille transcription from the Library of Congress is required.

  • At least 1–2 years of professional Braille transcription experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a significant caseload and volume of transcription requests.

  • Ability to work efficiently while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

  • Comfortable working with quick turnaround times and established due dates.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.

  • Ability to work onsite in an office provided by the district.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience providing Braille transcription services in a school-based or educational setting.

  • Experience supporting multiple schools or districts.

  • Familiarity with educational materials and classroom terminology.

  • Experience collaborating with other Braillists, teachers, special education staff, and related service professionals.

  • Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple transcription requests simultaneously.
