Make a difference in the lives of deaf and hard-of-hearing students by facilitating communication and meaningful inclusion in the classroom. Two full-time, onsite Sign Language Interpreter roles are available for the 2026–2027 school year in a supportive educational setting near Montrose, CO. You’ll work directly with students, educators, and school staff to provide American Sign Language interpretation, supporting access to instruction and participation in school life.
Key Qualifications:
- Colorado Educational Interpreter Authorization through the Colorado Department of Education, or eligibility to obtain.
- Associate's degree or higher in Educational Interpreting, American Sign Language, or a closely related field.
- Completion of the EIPA Written Examination.
- EIPA Performance Score of 3.5+ or current RID Certification.
- Able to meet all state and district employment criteria, including background screening.
- Strong ASL proficiency, educational interpreting experience, and excellent interpersonal skills.
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear ASL interpretation for students throughout the school day, including classes, assemblies, extracurriculars, and meetings.
- Support communication between students, teachers, support staff, and peers to foster a collaborative learning environment.
- Prepare for interpreting assignments by reviewing instructional materials in advance.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in line with FERPA and district policy.
- Adhere to professional standards and ethical guidelines for educational interpreting.
- Work cooperatively with general and special education teams to support student achievement.
Position Details:
- Full-time, onsite schedule Monday through Friday
- Follows the district’s academic calendar for workdays
